Multi-faceted Machinist

Custom program that focuses on multiple machine skillsets. A graduate will have proficiency in every piece of machinery, customer repair and rebuild, and ultimately be able to problem solve issues not typically seen.

8,000 hours of Training

Training and classroom costs covered by MMI. Average completion is 4 years with continuing education post graduation.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, a machinist will be able to produce replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of metal parts for mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: interpreting written instructions and specifications; planning and laying out of work; using a variety of machinist’s hand tools; shaping of metal parts to close tolerances; making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds and speeds of machining; knowledge of working properties of the common metals; selecting standard materials, parts, and equipment
required for the work; and fitting and assembling parts into mechanical equipment. Apprenticeship training is Department of Labor certified.
